
Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a famous motor racing venue located in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. It opened in 1909 and is one of the oldest and most important racing circuits in the world. The circuit is best known as the home of the Indianapolis 500, one of the most famous races in motorsport. The main oval layout is 2.5 miles long and features four long straights connected by four banked corners. Indianapolis is often called “The Brickyard” because the original track surface was made of bricks, and a small strip of bricks still remains at the start-finish line.
