Zolder, officially known as Circuit Zolder, is a motor racing circuit located in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium. It opened in 1963 and became one of Belgium’s most important racing venues. The circuit is best known for hosting the Belgian Grand Prix several times during the 1970s and early 1980s. Zolder is known for its fast sections, tight chicanes, and technical layout that rewards precision and good car control. It has hosted Formula One, touring cars, GT racing, endurance events, motorcycle racing, and cycling competitions. The circuit is also remembered as the place where Canadian Formula One driver Gilles Villeneuve died during qualifying in 1982. Today, Zolder remains an active and respected motorsport venue, continuing to host national and international racing events.
