Ibrán and Fontes finish on top of the podium in Valencia
Mon 15, Sep, 2014

The weekend closed successfully for Javier Ibrán and Álvaro Fontes, who delivered five-start performance at the Circuit de Valencia and achieved their best results so far. This doubleheader including Michelin Endurance Series / Spanish GT championship and Spanish Endurance championship races meant for both drivers of Buggy Experience Racing Team to step on the podium up to four times.

On Saturday Fontes and Ibrán qualified third among GTL teams on the starting grid of the Michelin Endurance Series and the Spanish GT series. Later in the race they proved to have an unbeatable race pace, quicker than his rivals. After two hours they both took a resounding win in the Spanish GT championship classification and subsequently in the Michelin Endurance Series, beating identical Ginettas G55 taking part in the race. As if both drivers wanted to demonstrate to everyone not to be content with these results, on Sunday Ibrán and Fontes finished second in Race one of the Spanish Endurance Championship – leading until the very last lap- and third in Race two, this time with a less favorable time handicap.

“Excellent weekend for us and now I´m well placed to challenge my rivals in the series, especially in the Spanish GT series. Weekend´s races were extremely difficult because of hot weather, and maybe the most demanding ones in my career. But it was well worth the trouble because we achieved splendid results. We worked very hard and our team deserved this a long time ago. The races were amazing and people were amazed at the track. It was such a shame I spun in the first race of the CER, but it was a rewarding weekend anyway”, Ibrán explained after his home event. Fontes added that “our results have been great over the weekend, winning in the GT championships and finishing second and third in the endurance championship. We made progress on our adaptation and each and every race was thrilling and closely fought. I want to highlight team work and Javier´s performance”.
