Former title winning Ginetta Junior Championship team Hillspeed once again plans to field a multi-car entry in the ultra-competitive category in 2015 after today, Friday, 30th January, confirming the return of promising young rookie Benjamin Wallace as its first signing.

Southport 15-year-old Wallace, who made his car racing debut with Hillspeed at Snetterton last August midway through the Ginetta Junior season, will be aiming to make consistent progress and build on the experience gained during the second half of 2014.

As well as contesting six races in the main championship, two at Snetterton, two more at Silverstone and also the final event of the campaign at Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit, he also competed in the Winter Series at Snetterton and secured a best result of 10th position.

Prior to his arrival in Ginetta racing, Wallace enjoyed good karting success in Britain and Europe and was Vice-Champion of the South-West German Cadet Kart Championship in 2009. Also becoming Vice-Champion of the 2010 German DMV Kart Championship, a year later he claimed his maiden title with victory in the KF3 Karting Silver Trophy in Germany.

“It’s great to be staying with Hillspeed for my first full year in Ginetta Junior”, said Wallace, “I learnt so much in the few races I contested last year, with the help of the team I made some big steps and the aim now is to be a top 10 regular this season and then move further up the grid. There’s still a lot to work on and more speed to find, but I’m confident we can have a successful championship.”

Delighted to officially confirm the Hathersage team’s continued partnership with Wallace, team principal Richard Ollerenshaw is equally thrilled to be able to confirm Hillspeed’s presence once again on the Ginetta Junior grid.

Having debuted in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship support category in 2010 to coincide with the launch of the then new Ginetta G40 Junior race car, Hillspeed went on to enjoy remarkable success in the championship by winning the main season and Winter Series titles in its maiden year – with Tom Ingram and Seb Morris respectively.

Remaining with Hillspeed in 2011, Morris added the main season crown and was a key player in securing the team title as well. Since then, Hillspeed has been a consistent force in Ginetta Junior and the squad is determined to get back to winning ways in 2015.

“Retaining Ben for his first full season in Ginetta Junior was always the plan and we’re delighted to have finalised a deal”, said Ollerenshaw, “He came into the championship last August with good karting pedigree, but jumping into a series as competitive as Ginetta Junior midway through the year is never easy. All things considered, Ben did a terrific job and gelled very well with the team.

“He still has a lot to learn, especially with the circuits he didn’t race at in 2014, but we’re confident he’s going to make excellent progress. Running in the top 10 consistently from the start of the year has to be the aim, and we can then hopefully build from there.”

Rounds one and two of the 2015 Ginetta Junior Championship will take place across Easter weekend, 4th/5th April, at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit in Kent.
