Sharp teams up with Stinton for Snetterton challenge
Mon 16, Jun, 2014

Tom Sharp has set his sights on a pair of top ten finishes in the latest rounds of the 2014 Avon Tyres British GT Championship at Snetterton this weekend, a meeting for which he will joined by a new team-mate.

With regular partner Colin White off competing in the Nurburgring 24 Hours event, Sharp will be sharing his IDL Racing with CWS Ginetta G55 GT3 with experienced GT racer Ian Stinton for the weekend.

46 year old Stinton has raced Ginetta’s for a number of years in the British GT and Britcar Championships with Stark Racing, finishing third overall in the British GT4 class in 2009. His last British GT appearance came last season with a one-off outing at Silverstone in his team’s Ginetta G55 GT3.

Sharp returns to Snetterton with mixed memories from last season, when a hard-fought eleventh place finish in race one was followed up by a huge 120mph accident in race two, caused by an unfortunate mechanical failure.

With the car having shown tremendous pace around the 2.99 mile Norfolk circuit twelve months ago, having climbed from 23rd on the grid to that eleventh place finish, Sharp is confident of challenging for his first top ten finishes of the season in this weekend’s two one-hour races.

Tom Sharp: "I've known Ian for some time now through racing Ginetta’s, he’s a quick driver, and his experience will be an asset to the team. I feel like the team are on top of things with the car now, and I think that we should have a good chance of picking up a pair of top ten finishes at Snetterton.”

Ian Stinton: “I’m so pleased to be back out in the British GT Championship, this marks my tenth season competing in the series. To team up with a BRDC SuperStar like Tom is fantastic, the G55 is a wonderful car to drive and I’m certainly looking for a top ten finish from the weekend.”
