Nielsen Racing looking forward to the unique challenge of Monza
Wed 08, May, 2019

Nielsen Racing is looking forward to the second round of both the European Le Mans Series and the Michelin Le Mans Cup which takes place this coming weekend (10 – 12 May) at Monza, Italy.

The team has made a strong start to its 2019 campaign and heads to the home of the Italian Grand Prix determined to secure podium positions and challenge for the victory.

At Paul Ricard last month, Tony Wells and Colin Noble finished in a strong sixth position in the ELMS race in the #7 Nielsen Racing Norma. Teammates Nobuya Yamanaka and James Littlejohn secured 14th position in the #8 Ligier on what was their debut together in the series.

In the Michelin Le Mans Cup, Tony and Colin were rewarded for their great race with a fine third position in the #2 Norma, while Mark Crader and Alex Mortimer survived contact and a subsequent spin to finish 15th in the #20 Grainmarket Norma entry.

For Tony and Colin, Monza has been kind in the recent past with a victory together in 2017 and the runner-up position last season. Along with the team, the top step of the podium remains the target this coming weekend.

Roger Bennett, ELMS Team Manager

“The whole team are looking forward to competing at such a historic circuit and to build on the potential both cars displayed at Paul Ricard.

“Tony and Colin had the potential of at least a podium at Paul Ricard and if things go as we expect, then they should at least be at that level at Monza.

“We believe that Nobu will be able to pick up Monza fairly quickly – there’s not many corners but it is dauntingly fast, so we hope that he gets up to speed with James and enjoys the thrill of racing around this famous circuit.”

Stuart Moseley, LMC Team Manager

“Colin and Tony have previously won at Monza and I’m sure they would like to repeat that success and make up for a tough round one at Paul Ricard.

“Mark and I won the final Radical Masters race of 2018 at Monza and so with that experience he and Alex should be in good form for a strong weekend.”
