Mitchell Hale set for racing return with SVR in GT4 Supercup
Wed 18, Mar, 2015

SV Racing will facilitate Mitchell Hale’s return to racing, as the talented Bristol-based driver has signed to spearhead the Champion team’s assault on the 2015 Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup.

Hale was a latecomer to the motorsport scene, first laying his hands on a Kart at the age of 13. The Somerset resident had an illustrious Karting career, beating the likes of Red Bull Racing Formula 1 driver Daniil Kvyat and Toro Rosso F1 rookie Carlos Sainz Junior, and an innate flair for racing saw the car salesman make his single-seater debut during his late-teens in the 2010 BARC Formula Renault Championship.

What would be his first and last full-time season of competition comprised of many eye-catching performances and Hale maintained a healthy advantage at the top of the points table until he saw the title slip from his grasp as events took a turn for the worse in a devastating final round.

Sadly, budgetary constraints forced Hale to take a sabbatical from motorsport, but the 21-year old is ready to make a resplendent return to the racetrack, with a planned sportscar campaign in the Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup under the SV Racing umbrella.

“I don’t have any hopes or expectations for the 2015 season because I don’t want to put pressure on myself,” said Hale. “I haven’t had much experience since my season in the BARC Formula Renault Championship in 2010, but the results of the three 20-minute test sessions I had in the Ginetta G55 at Donington Park recently were very positive; I really clicked with the car, so I’m quite confident I won’t be too far off the pace. Once the first round is out of the way, I’ll be able to gauge where I stand, but having a team like SV Racing behind me is a big shot in the arm. I have a good relationship with Danny (Buxton) and I wouldn’t have signed for anybody else, to be honest. He does a great job, has decent driver coaches and I’m confident in the team’s ability.”

SV Racing Director, Danny Buxton, said: “I’m delighted that Mitchell Hale has joined the TOCA package with SV Racing, because I’ve known him for many years and his talent and the raw speed he possesses is unquestionable. He has been out of the saddle for a long time, but I’m sure that with a few days of testing under his belt his talent will come shining through. I think he should be on for a very strong second half of the year.”

The 2015 Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup roars into life on the world-renowned Brands Hatch Indy circuit (4-5 April) and will tour the nation’s greatest racetracks, including Donington Park, Oulton Park and Silverstone, as part of the illustrious support package for the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC).
