KCMG’s Paul Ip poised for FIA F4 Japanese Championship debut at Fuji
Fri 07, Aug, 2015

Following FIA F4 Japanese Championship’s two-month interval, KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) returns to the scenic foothills of Mount Fuji for the national Formula series’ third event on August 8/9. In line with this, the Hong Kong-based squad is pleased to announce that Paul Ip will join Toyota Racing School backed driver Yuki Nemoto in the championship’s forthcoming double-header - highlighting the former’s maiden outing in the Toyota-powered F4 Dome car on Fuji’s 4.563km circuit.

Apart from the number of milestones that Ip has successfully carved in motorsport with KCMG - a thriving team that he founded in 2007 - his experience as a driver spans from racing single seaters in Asian Formula 3 to GT championships, namely Renault Clio Cup China and Porsche Carrera Cup. In 2005, Ip competed in Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain’s Silverstone round and delivered an impressive points-scoring finish.

In 2014, he once again took part in the one-make series’ support race at Le Mans whilst tackling his first full season in Porsche Carrera Cup Japan (PCCJ). Moreover, Ip continued his PCCJ campaign in 2015 after sealing a promising season in the national championship last year.

FIA F4 Japanese Championship underlines a 40-car grid, presenting a highly competitive platform and fresh challenge for Ip. As KCMG prepares for their upcoming two-car assault at Fuji, the team is looking to deliver positive results throughout the race weekend.

Paul Ip: “It’s been 10 years since I last drove a Formula car and it's a great feeling going back from GT to racing single seaters. Jumping back and forth from two motorsport disciplines is a good exercise, and the shift from GT to Formula racing is a challenge that I’m looking forward to.”

Yuki Nemoto: “It’s good to be back at Fuji as I have raced on this track before and know the layout like the back of my hand. I’m looking forward to this weekend’s races and aiming to score championship points for the team.”

Ryuji Doi, KCMG Japan General Manager: “We head to Fuji determined to conclude the event with positive results. More so, the team is delighted to work with Paul as one of our drivers this weekend. Driving the Dome car will be a new challenge for him and we’re all looking forward to his maiden F4 outing. We’re confident that both Paul and Yuki will be in the mix as this is a venue where they have raced several times in the past.”
