Joel Camathias back to Mugello in Italian GT
Thu 09, Jul, 2015

Joel Camathias will be racing this weekend in the fourth round of the Italian GT Championship, very high-rated this year. For the occasion, the ACI Sport-promoted series is moving to Mugello, the legendary 5,245 km track in Tuscany.

The Swiss driver, as usual partnered by country-fellow Mauro Calamia at the wheel of the Autorlando Sport Porsche 911 R, will seek to repeat the positive results obtained in the previous outings at Monza and Imola, where the Swiss pair collected two 5th finishes that can be deemed as excellent, given the fierce competition.

Joel Camathias:

“Mugello is one of those tracks whose name commands respect. It’s a long time I haven’t raced there, but today’s modernized track hasn’t lost anything of the spirit of the original circuit. It’s a ‘natural’ track, designed respecting the topography of the place, made of hills and drops. It means difficult corners, a lot of ups and downs, and all in all, a fast and technical track, where mistakes are not forgiven. Together with Mauro and Autorlando, we aim at doing well and, if possible, improve the recent good results, relying on the power and versatility of the Porsche, although we don’t have a lot of references and we know we will have to face very strong rivals.”
