First points for Ola Nilsson
Mon 19, May, 2014

Ola Nilsson lived up to his goal when he grabbed his first points in the German Porsche Carrera Cup championship at this weekend's record-even races at Oschersleben.

Just like in the premiere at Hockenheim two weeks ago the second round of the world's currently toughest Porsche championship was incredibly competitive. Most noticeable was the level in Saturday's qualifying, where Nilsson was just half a second from pole position - but still had to settle for 16th place among the field's 36 drivers.

In the weekend's two races the Swede managed to advance steadily, and took the checkered flag as 12th and 11th behind the wheel of his Deutsche Post by Project 1 car. The effort was rewarded with a total of nine points - Nilsson's first ever in Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland.

- I went to Oschersleben with the goal to take my first point, and it feels very good to have been able to realize that ambition, says Ola Nilsson. It's been a hassle free, educational weekend, and one can only be impressed of the level in this championship. The team - which has operated in series in more than 20 years - say they have never been through anything like it, and as a driver, it's just such a challenge you want. It is exceptionally tight and you have to really maximize the car's potential at a hundred percent. I still have a lot to learn, but this was definitely a step in the right direction.

Ola Nilsson is after this weekend's results at 18th position in the overall championship table, lead by American Connor de Phillippi. The victories at Oschersleben went to Austrian Christopher Zöchling and German Christian Engelhart, third and second in the overall summary.

Next race in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland runs outside of German soil, as the championship goes to the Hungarian F1 track Hungaroring in two weeks.
