This weekend, nineteen-year-old Devlin DeFrancesco will be suiting up for his first FIA Formula 3 weekend with Trident Motorsport, as the Championship heads to Barcelona for the opening round of its inaugural season.

The scene of the pre-season testing last month, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will host the opening weekend of the season (11th-12th May), with F3 running alongside F1 and F2 action. Rising victorious in the Spanish Formula 3 Championship on his track debut in 2017, Devlin is no stranger to the 4.7km circuit.

Staying active ready throughout the off season, the Canadian-Italian has been working hard to be mentally and physically prepared for any new challenges he will face. Whilst keeping race sharp with a hugely successful drive, as the youngest prototype driver at the Rolex Daytona 24 in January.

Testing at both Le Castellet circuit in France and the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya in Spain, earlier this year, allowed Devlin the opportunity to get some laps under his belt and get a feel for the all new for 2019 car. Completing all his programs set by the team, Devlin left testing pleased with the progress he made with the car to prepare him for what will be a new and exciting challenge.

Despite his familiarity with the Catalonian circuit, the nineteen-year-old is under no illusion of the challenge in front of him as he lines up onto the 30 strong-grid but remains unfazed and extremely excited to get the season underway.

Following a similar format to its predecessor the GP3 series, track action first gets underway on Friday morning with a 45-minute practice session, followed by qualifying later that afternoon with 2 22 lap races scheduled for Saturday and Sunday Morning respectively.
