Archie Hamilton takes LMP2 fourth at Nürburgring
Wed 02, Sep, 2015

After a late call-up, Archie Hamilton joined the Sard Morand Racing team for the 6 Hours of the Nürburgring, the fourth round of the World Endurance Championship.

Making his first LMP2 appearance for two years, Archie spent his time on track on Friday and Saturday learning the Morgan-SARD car, his first time in a car since the Silverstone race in April.  The team qualified in fifth for the grid.

Race day saw Archie take the fifth and sixth stints of seven, pushing for a podium place by trying to use a different fuel strategy to the other teams. With all teams on very similar tyre and fuel strategies it became much more difficult to make progress through the field and ultimately Archie’s team finished in fourth place.

Archie Hamilton:

“It was a tough weekend getting into an LMP2 car for the first time in two seasons and the first time in any race car in five months. It was made more difficult by having no radio communication for my stints but we managed with the pit-board. The team was pleased with my pace, consistency and performance and it was great to be able to get up to speed so quickly. I loved being back in the car and having a strong race. I would like to thank Benoit and all at Sard Morand for the opportunity. We were close to making it onto the podium but ultimately G-Drive and KCMG didn’t make that mistake that we needed to make the top-three.”
