A positive fifth for Joel Camathias at Imola in the Italian GT
Sun 28, Jun, 2015

Another good result for Joel Camathias in the highly-competitive Italian GT Championship: the Lugano driver, together with his regular partner, Zurich-born Mauro Calamia, has clinched a fifth in Race 1 at Imola, where took place the third round of the series promoted by ACI Sport.

With this result, the Autorlando Sport’s Swiss pair has equaled the result obtained in Monza, being the best-classified Porsche 911R against a very strong competition. In Race-2, where the car was bound to obtain another good result, a technical problem has stopped the car, causing its retirement. The next round of the Italian GT is scheduled at Mugello on 11-12 July.

Joel Camathias:

“We are satisfied, as once again we obtain a good result against rivals which have very sharp weapons. At Imola, after being competitive in free practice, we struggled a bit in qualifying, and we don’t really know why. Despite this and not the best grid position, Mauro, who had taken the start, and I did well in Race-1, climbing through the field and having some nice duels to take an excellent fifth. In Race-2, we could have repeated or even improved the result, but something broke right after my stint, when my team mate had taken the wheel, forcing him to stop along the track. The team still has to check out what was the issue, maybe something related to suspension. Still, the weekend’s overall result is good and we are going to work to get more positive finishes in the forthcoming events.”
