Will Bratt - Albacete preview
Will Bratt is aiming for a successful return to competitive action next weekend, 28th/29th June, when he takes part in the fifth and sixth rounds of the 2008 FIAT Spanish Formula 3 Championship at Albacete.
Having made a one-off appearance in the Formula Renault UK Championship a fortnight ago at Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit to assist his former team Apotex Scorpio Motorsport, the 20-year-old from Banbury is looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of his EmiliodeVillota.com Motorsport run F3 challenger.
Third in the driver standings heading into the Albacete race meeting, Will is just three points shy of series leader Bruno Mendez and having shown outstanding pace during the first couple of events of his debut Formula 3 season, the British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) Rising Star is confident he will be able to seamlessly re-adapt to F3.
“I can’t wait to get back behind the wheel of the F3 car”, commented Will, “Racing in the Formula Renault at Silverstone was good fun but now we need to concentrate on the serious business of continuing our championship challenge in Spanish F3. I’m looking forward to Albacete, when we tested there back in March we were very competitive.
“It’s been a strong start to the season for us. Being on pole position at Spa and taking our first podium was fantastic but now I want to win. We’ve shown we’re capable of that, it’s only misfortune which has stood in our way so far. I’m confident at Albacete we’ll be strong and, at the very least, I want to consolidate our place in the championship top three.”
Scoring points in three of the four races contested so far in the 2008 FIAT Spanish F3 Championship, Oxon ace Will is hungry to achieve his maiden category victory and stands a terrific chance of doing so just over a week from now.
New Valencia Street Circuit to host additional Spanish F3 rounds in July In further news relating to the Spanish F3 series, it has been announced the championship will be extended by two rounds to a total of 18 races this season following confirmation the category will run at the phenomenal new street circuit in Valencia on 26th/27th July.
Acting as something of a rehearsal ahead of the Formula One European Grand Prix which will be staged at the brand new venue in late August, next month’s event will see Will and his team among the first to experience the incredible new home of the European GP.
“I was already looking forward to the Formula One support race as the highlight of the season but to have the opportunity to race on the Valencia street circuit sooner than we expected is fantastic news”, said Will, “It’ll be an amazing challenge. Having the chance to race on the new circuit four times in total will be an unbelievable experience.”
Returning to next weekend’s fifth and sixth rounds of the season, three 30-minute practice sessions will be held on Friday, 27th June, at Albacete with qualifying scheduled to take place at 11.45 (local time) on Saturday, 28th June, and the first race expected to get underway at 18.30. Race two will follow on Sunday, 29th June, at approximately 12.00.

I started this site in 2004 with about 100 pages related to the Formula 1 drivers of the 2004 season. Now, more than four years later it has grown a bit. How big is it, you ask? Total number of pages: 210744 (at Dec 01) Size of text in database: 47.5 MB While 47.5 MB might not sound like much...
