Will Bratt - Spanish F3 preview

Just over a week remains until Will Bratt takes part in the biggest event in his motor racing career – the European Grand Prix supporting ninth and 10th rounds of the 2008 FIAT Spanish Formula 3 Championship.

Competing at an FIA Formula One World Championship race meeting for the first time, the 20-year-old from Banbury, Oxon, aims to make a return to the Spanish F3 podium next weekend, 23rd/24th August, with a sparkling performance at the incredible Valencia Street Circuit.

With long-held aspirations of climbing the motor racing ladder to Formula One, the British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) Rising Star knows the importance a great result in front of the F1 team bosses could bring to his career and he certainly intends on serving up a tremendous showing of his speed and racecraft.

At the wheel of his EmiliodeVillota.com Motorsport prepared Dallara, Will put his name in the record books by setting the F3 lap record at Valencia Street Circuit during the Spanish F3 Championship’s pre-cursor event last month and so he is rightly buoyant.

“We’ll go back to Valencia very confident as we were the fastest package during the two races there last month, only things out of our control determined the outcome of both encounters”, said Will, “On pace alone, we were quicker than everybody in race conditions and only red flags in qualifying prevented us from starting near the front of the grid.

“I’m confident podiums and wins are there for the taking next weekend. To race as part of a Grand Prix weekend will be absolutely unbelievable and so I hope we are able to show exactly what we’re capable of. Formula One is, of course, where I want to be racing in the future. If we can put on a good performance next weekend it would be a dream result.”

Although the last few races for Will have been handicapped by external factors, he has undoubtedly proven throughout his maiden season of international competition he has the pace and ability to shine at the highest level. Next weekend’s event in support of the F1 World Championship will certainly be the highlight of his career so far.

Will added: “If the car is as it was at Valencia last month, and I’ve no reason to believe it won’t be as Emilio and the team has done a fantastic job all year for us, we should be very strong. We do need some results after a run of bad luck, it would be perfect if things can turn back in our favour during the Grand Prix weekend. I can’t wait for it!”

Rounds nine and 10 of the FIAT Spanish Formula 3 Championship will take place next weekend, 23rd/24th August, at the awesome Valencia Street Circuit facility, on Spain’s east coast, as support to the FIA Formula One World Championship’s European Grand Prix.

Driver Database is huge
December 2 2008
I started this site in 2004 with about 100 pages related to the Formula 1 drivers of the 2004 season. Now, more than four years later it has grown a bit. How big is it, you ask? Total number of pages: 210744 (at Dec 01) Size of text in database: 47.5 MB While 47.5 MB might not sound like much...
