Roberto Streit and Renger Van der Zande at Macau with Prema
Can a race be as important as an entire season? If this race is called Macao, then the answer is yes. Since 1983, the event held on the city circuit of the small Chinese island, is one of F.3's most fundamental meeting. This event is precious as it can change a driver's destiny.
It's a classic. The Macao streets host the circuit between two high guardrails and walls. It presents a long straight where the cars reach the maximum speed, and then a mix part that leave the drivers breathless. Therefore, it is very difficult to find the perfect set up for these changing situations. Macao's hall of fame is composed of important names which have made F1's history: most important of all, first Ayrton Senna in 1983, and Michael Schumacher in 1990. Then, Mauricio Gugelmin, Martin Donnelly, David Coulthard, David Brabham, Ralf Schumacher, Ralph Firman, Takuma Sato, joined by other drivers who have become professionals in other categories such as Rickard Rydell, Jorg Muller, Sascha Maassen, Soheil Ayari, Peter Dumbreck and Andre Couto. Recent winners are trying to climb to F1: Tristan Gommendy, Nicolas Lapierre, Alexandre Premat, Lucas Di Grassi and Mike Conway. Only one Italian has ever been successful at Macao, Enrico Bertaggia in 1988. Prema has been participating in this unique race for many years. This year it will be the only Italian participant with Renger Van der Zande, for his first time on this circuit after a season with the Team in the F3 Euro Series and with Roberto Streit. The Brazilian driver was a protagonist in the F3 Euro Series and in 2006 he raced at Macao with Prema where he obtained the fastest lap in the race and was noticed among the weekend's protagonists. Angelo Rosin's Team expects a positive conclusion to a very busy season with Prema always in the first positions.
Roberto Streit:
"After the great experience in 2006, during all season I maintained good contacts with the Team Prema although I was involved in the F3 Japanese Championship.
I definitely wanted to repeat with Prema the experience of the race at Macao. If last year I was a rookie and I had everything still to learn, this time I am going there to win. I am convinced that Prema can put me in such conditions in order to realize this dream."
Renger Van der Zande:
"For me it is a wonderful opportunity to participate in the Grand Prix of Macao 17 / 18 November. After a first year in Euroseries Formula 3 with PremaPower Team I feel prepared for this challenge. I have looked many times at the on-board video's of former years, and it looks like a pretty difficult track. But the record of Prema Power in Macao is positive, so I must be able, even as a Rookie, to be a frontrunner..... The wonderful cooperation I experienced this year with the PremaPower team is a super inspiration for this race"

December 2 2008
I started this site in 2004 with about 100 pages related to the Formula 1 drivers of the 2004 season. Now, more than four years later it has grown a bit. How big is it, you ask? Total number of pages: 210744 (at Dec 01) Size of text in database: 47.5 MB While 47.5 MB might not sound like much...
