FIAT Spanish F3 Championship
Qualifying delight for Bratt with Valencia front row
FIAT Spanish Formula 3 front-runner Will Bratt produced an excellent lap in qualifying at Valencia Street Circuit this morning, Saturday, 23rd August, to secure his place on the front row for tomorrow’s European Grand Prix supporting ninth round of the season.
The EmiliodeVillota.com Motorsport driver lapped with a time of 2m 04.252 seconds late in the 30-minute session to go second fastest, just 0.018 seconds shy of the pole position time achieved by experienced F3 competitor Christian Ebbesvik.
Will was actually set to go onto pole with his final lap of qualifying which, halfway through, saw him two 10ths of a second up on Ebbesvik’s best. Unfortunately for the 20-year-old Banbury sensation, red flags were shown so he was unable to complete the lap which would almost certainly have taken him to his second career Formula 3 pole position.
Almost two 10ths of a second quicker than third-placed Nelson Panciatici, Will is confident he can challenge for his first F3 victory at Valencia tomorrow in front of the Formula One team bosses – easily the biggest race of his motorsport career.
The British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) Rising Star said: “We’re obviously really pleased to be on the front row, we’re in a great position to fight for the win now tomorrow and that’s the aim. It’s by far the biggest weekend of my career and if we can cap that off by taking my first Formula 3 win in front of the Formula One teams I’ll be ecstatic.
“Just missing pole by less than two 100ths of a second is a bit frustrating but I know we can be quicker than (Christian) Ebbesvik as we were faster by two 10ths of a second on my last lap before the red flags came out. The team has done a great job with the car but there are still some small improvements we can make for tomorrow.”
The biggest race of Will’s motor racing career, the European Grand Prix supporting ninth round of the FIAT Spanish Formula 3 Championship, is scheduled to get underway at 08.30 (local time) tomorrow morning, Sunday, 24th August, at Valencia Street Circuit on Spain’s east coast.

I started this site in 2004 with about 100 pages related to the Formula 1 drivers of the 2004 season. Now, more than four years later it has grown a bit. How big is it, you ask? Total number of pages: 210744 (at Dec 01) Size of text in database: 47.5 MB While 47.5 MB might not sound like much...
