Prema's Norisring race report

After the races held at Pau, Prema Powerteam had to face another street course in the fourth round of the Formula 3 Euro Series. The Norisring event represents a standpoint for all the German motorsports panorama, capturing the attention of over 100.000 fans on each occasion. Unfortunately, Prema was unable to repeat the double podium finish scored in France. Qualifying wasn't too exciting, as several cars ran on-line on the 2.3-Km raceway, and the team had to content with the 8th place scored by Dani Clos as the best result of the day.

Renger Van Der Zande, willing to get back in the fight for the championship's lead, was forced to a midpack position, while Stefano Coletti was slowed by an engine failure in practice. In the first race, Dani Clos was forced to retire by a contact with a rival car early, while running in fifth. Van Der Zande avoided any mistake to take 10th, just in front of Coletti. On Sunday, half the points were awarded, as an initial pile-up forced the stewards to reduce the distance from 48 to 18 laps following to a long interruption. Both Clos and Coletti were involved: only the latter one had the chance to re-start, and took 6th place behind high-running Van Der Zande.

Angelo Rosin - Team Principal
"The one at Norisring is a very particular race. The racetrack is really short: a lap only takes less than 49 seconds, and in qualifying all the drivers were covered by 1.002 seconds. On this type of event, races are conditioned by cars running in-line. Unfortunately, due to a contact, Dani Clos was unable to collect a positive result on Race 1. On Sunday, the recovery of Renger Van Der Zande was really remarkable: he ended up into the top-5. Stefano Coletti, at his first appearance with the team, was extremely positive too in 6th"

The helmet queue is gone!
October 13 2008
I've been very busy the last couple of weeks. Both with doing work that actually pays the bills but also with working on a new and improved version of the site (mostly a re-design, but will also feature some new features and improvements). This, and the fact that the many series are ending their sea...
