Prema's Macau GP report - Thursday

The long weekend of the 54° Macau Grand Prix started today. This morning was held the first free practice session, where Roberto Streit concluded in fourth position and Renger Van der Zande in twenty third. In the afternoon, the drivers went back on track for the first qualifying session, which as usual at Macau was interrupted by a red flag. At the end of the session, Streit finished in ninth position, even without using new tyres. Van der Zande concluded the session in nineteenth position, as he continued his learning of the unknown Macau track. Tomorrow, all the drivers and staff of Prema Powerteam will be back on track at 10:30 am local time for the second free practice session and at 15:05 pm for the forty-five minute final qualifying session.

Angelo Rosin, Team Manager
"Today's start was promising. As planned yesterday, we decided to use only two new tyres on both cars as we'd rather keep them for tomorrow 's qualifying session, when the drivers will be more confident and the track conditions will be better. Streit obtained his best lap time with used tyres, because of the traffic and yellow flags he found when he had the two new tyres, while Van der Zande didn't commit any mistake and therefore attained his objective for the first day in Macau. We are satisfied of our work and I believe this positive start allows us to be hopeful for a good result tomorrow."

Roberto Streit
"In the middle of the session I had a five lap sequence with no car in front of me, and I obtained my best lap time in qualifying. Unfortunately, after I changed my two tyres, I found a lot of traffic, and at some points it was impossible to obtain any good lap time because of yellow flags. This is also one of Macau's features, it's part of the game. Overall I am still satisfied of the work done with the Team, we improved the set-up and I believe that tomorrow we will see the real potential of all the drivers. I am confident though!"

Renger Van der Zande
"What a track! I had prepared myself before coming here, but the feeling is indescribable. I am pleased of my first day here, I was told many times that the most important thing here is not to commit any mistake and I didn't. Tomorrow I will try and optimize my driving to many points of the track, where I have a margin for improvement. The weekend is still long, and I count on gaining positions at each session."

Driver Database is huge
December 2 2008
I started this site in 2004 with about 100 pages related to the Formula 1 drivers of the 2004 season. Now, more than four years later it has grown a bit. How big is it, you ask? Total number of pages: 210744 (at Dec 01) Size of text in database: 47.5 MB While 47.5 MB might not sound like much...
