Oscar Palm won in his Ferrari debut

Oscar Palm won the second race of the weekend in the Ferrari Scandinavia Challenge at Ring Knutstorp after passing most of the field during a 40 minutes long race. The junior from Jönköping, Sweden, made his debut in the championship and raced for Scuderia Autoropa with an age exemption from the Swedish Motorsport Authority SBF. He was in the top of the results sheets all weekend and was in big parts of the races fastest on track. In the first race on Saturday Palm finished second, just behind team mate Martin Nelson. Both races were of FIA Northern European Zone status.

- This year's first victory and a wonderful car to drive, Oscar Palm says about his Ferrari debut. All the personell and Autoropa's Ferrari Racing Day event is of a very high standard and it was obviously very nice to be able to beat all the other drivers in my debut weekend! The interest in me has increased and it's not impossible that I will enter at least one more round during the end of the season - probably in Italy. Tanks to Djon, my driving coach, and SBF who let me drive eventhough I'm only going to be 17 years old at the end of this season.

The free practice on Saturday morning indicated that things were looking good for the rest of the weekend: Oscar had third fastest time and in qualifying he also ended up third. The first raced was over 18 laps and Palm was all over Nelson, but without risking something by over optimistic passing attempts. The result: double victory for Scuderia Autoropa and important championship points for Nelson who like the rest of the drivers, except for Oscar who's a guest driver, are racing for the championship. In the second race the starting grid was reversed for the top eight of race one, which gave Oscar seventh place on the grid. Despite a bad start he soon had contact with the leading cars and could pass another team mate - Torbjörn Ekstrand - on his way to victory.

- Oscar has made a fantastic performace, says Scuderia Autoropa's team manager and driving coach Djon Clausen. We aimed for the podium based on what we've seen from Oscar before, but he won - fair and square - during his debut in the championship. He has acted professional, behaved very well towards our sponsors and has received praise from both the audience and people in the business. Now we'll have to see how to move on from here, but we're happy to see Oscar in one of our cars soon again.

Driver Database is huge
December 2 2008
I started this site in 2004 with about 100 pages related to the Formula 1 drivers of the 2004 season. Now, more than four years later it has grown a bit. How big is it, you ask? Total number of pages: 210744 (at Dec 01) Size of text in database: 47.5 MB While 47.5 MB might not sound like much...
