Off-season training and new sponsor provides immediate returns

UMA Motor Sports/P1 AFR driving tandem of A.Aziz Al Ya’eesh and Fahad Hizam fell just short of winning the Championship in the past season of both the Lumina-CSV Championship and Formula Thunder Arabia with Aziz finishing 2nd in the Lumina standings and Fahad finishing 6th and 5th in the FTA Championship in back-to-back seasons. This left both drivers with a hunger to take that next step on the podium and bring home championships in both series this season. Aziz and Fahad trained very hard on improving their stamina and reaction times in the off-season to gear up for the fight ahead. As well, the tandem has signed United Motors Agencies as a partner in their Lumina CSV efforts.

So far their work is paying early dividends. Starting this past weekend in the Lumina CSV Championship saw Aziz qualify his UMA/P1 Lumina in second position with his teammate in 10th due to a fuel pickup problem. From the start in 10th position, Hizam managed to move up to 4th before settling into his finishing position in 7th overall in the first of the two races. The real story for the first event is Aziz starting from P2, overtook the lead before the end of lap one. The lead changed hands several times but Al Ya’eesh was not to be denied the first win of the season as he stood on the top of the podium.

In race two, Hizam was starting from Pole Position in his UMA/P1 Lumina with race one winner Aziz in 7th starting position. As the driving tandem worked as a team against their competition, the field saw Al Ya’eesh drive through the field to overtake the lead only to have a tire puncture end his day early. Fahad would go on to hold steady throughout and finish a very respectable 6th overall position. As it stands through two events, the UMA Motor Sports/P1 AFR team is currently second in the championship with its drivers Aziz and Fahad in 5th and 6th position respectively in the drivers’ championship.

As for the Formula Thunder Arabia Championship, again having two races on the weekend saw Fahad qualify in 5th position and teammate Aziz in 7th. At the start the two had a coming together only to see a strong effort by Hizam fall short with a broken radiator and finished with a DNF in the first race and his car couldn’t be fixed in time for race two. Things were much brighter for Al Ya’eesh as he finished the weekend with a 4th place finish in race one, and on the podium in 3rd position in race two. As a whole the weekend was a great success for the team and they are looking forward to rounds three and four of the championship in Dubai on December 6th and 7th.

Driver Database is huge
December 2 2008
I started this site in 2004 with about 100 pages related to the Formula 1 drivers of the 2004 season. Now, more than four years later it has grown a bit. How big is it, you ask? Total number of pages: 210744 (at Dec 01) Size of text in database: 47.5 MB While 47.5 MB might not sound like much...
