Ladder climbing the Oran Park aim for ADRAD Racing

After a consistent performance in the heat of Hidden Valley last month, ADRAD Racing’s Bryce Washington will aim to continue to climb the point’s ladder in this weekend’s fourth round of the WPS Australian Carrera Cup, at Oran Park.

A strong top-eight performance in Darwin six weeks ago, coupled up by a fantastic rookie LeMans series effort in the Nurburgring 1000km event two weeks later has left 22-year-old Washington optimistic of a similarly strong run at the Narellan, Sydney circuit this weekend.

Washington gained nine championship places thanks to his strong effort in the top end, after a disastrous start to the year at the Clipsal 500 and Wakefield Park rounds of the championship left the Adelaide-based driver on the comeback trail.

A test day at the undulating 2.69km circuit last week gave the team valuable setup information ahead of this weekend’s round behind the wheel of the #54 ADRAD Radiator Experts / AdAir Porsche 997 GT3 Cup Car.

“I was talking to a couple of other drivers the about it the other day and we all agreed on the same thing: if the car isn’t sorted then there is no point even turning up to the place.

“There is a lot of dust and sand that gets dragged on to the race track there and it’s quite amazing how much time you can loose if you get out into it, off the racing line.

“We are still working our way back to where we should be – and expect to be – this season but I think that we can have a reasonable weekend in Sydney to keep accumulating points.” he explained.

Washington suggested that whilst a win may not be possible, a competitive top eight placing is more than achievable for the ADRAD Radiator Experts - supported team lead by experienced Porsche preparer Mark Buik.

“If we can race competitively like we did at Hidden Valley, in and amongst the top eight, and score some more solid championship points then I think we will be relatively happy with our performance,” He said.

“Darwin was a good recovery from the start of the year that we had and now we are looking forward to building on that momentum.”

Washington is not inexperienced at the Oran Park circuit, piloting his 996 GT3 Cup Car to a top ten result at the Carrera Cup round held at the circuit almost exactly a year ago. Prior to that strong performances in a Formula Ford confirmed his pace at the demanding circuit.

The ADRAD Porsche sits 14th in the Carrera Cup Championship standings after three rounds.

The usual program of three races will be held over the this weekend’s three-day event at Oran Park.

ADRAD Racing is proudly supported by the ADRAD Radiator Experts Network, AdAir, Koyo Radiators, Buik Motor works, BCG Cleaning supplies and Abbott Printers and Stationers.

Driver Database is huge
December 2 2008
I started this site in 2004 with about 100 pages related to the Formula 1 drivers of the 2004 season. Now, more than four years later it has grown a bit. How big is it, you ask? Total number of pages: 210744 (at Dec 01) Size of text in database: 47.5 MB While 47.5 MB might not sound like much...
