Jonathan Ridley-Holloway - Silverstone National preview

Jonathan Ridley-Holloway goes into the penultimate event of the ELF Renault Clio Cup season at Silverstone National Circuit next weekend, 30th/31st August, hoping for an improvement in luck as he aims to challenge for a couple of consistent top 10 finishes.

Four weeks on from the previous two rounds of the championship at Oulton Park Island Circuit in Cheshire, the Barnstaple based 24-year-old is bidding to achieve two solid results from the Silverstone weekend in order to help boost his hopes of closing on the coveted championship top 10.

Jonathan, who works as a race instructor at the Northamptonshire track, is currently 15th in the driver standings and although there are only four races remaining in his debut season of Clio Cup action, there is still the possibility he could end the year in the top 10.

“I think we should be alright at Silverstone”, commented Jonathan, “We’ve had quite a bit of bad luck this season so it would be nice to get some consistently good results from the last four races of the year, starting at Silverstone next weekend. Qualifying went well when we were at the Grand Prix track in June, it’s a shame the races weren’t as good!”

During the World Series by Renault supporting meeting on the Grand Prix Circuit two months ago, Jonathan produced one of his best and most competitive qualifying performances of the year to secure eighth place on the grid. Unfortunately, as has been the way so far this year, bad luck and contact from other drivers compromised his races.

To date, the North Devon driver’s best result came at Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire during round 10 where he raced brilliantly to a seventh place finish. Jonathan would dearly like to break into the top six during next weekend’s two races in his Total Control Racing entered car so he’s keeping his fingers crossed for a trouble free run.

“The times should all be very close on the National Circuit which should make for some good racing and I am looking forward to it, added the PicoPC.co.uk, A4 Apparel and Bond Oxborough Phillips backed racer, “I don’t want to be too optimistic due to the bad luck we’ve had but I really want to get a good result for me and the boys at TCR.”

Jonathan’s first outing in his ELF Renault Clio Cup racer since the previous two rounds of the season a month ago will come during pre-event testing at Silverstone National Circuit next Friday, 29th August.

Qualifying for rounds 17 and 18 will take place at 10.50 on Saturday, 30th August, with the first race of the weekend getting underway at approximately 15.45. Round 18 will follow on Sunday, 31st August, at around 14.20 and is expected to be screened live on Freeview, cable and digital satellite channel ITV4.

Driver Database is huge
December 2 2008
I started this site in 2004 with about 100 pages related to the Formula 1 drivers of the 2004 season. Now, more than four years later it has grown a bit. How big is it, you ask? Total number of pages: 210744 (at Dec 01) Size of text in database: 47.5 MB While 47.5 MB might not sound like much...
