Halliday on road to recovery and back behind the mic for Motors TV
Liz Halliday is back in the commentary box next weekend as the 2007 Le Mans Series season concludes with the 1000-mile Mil Milhas race at Interlagos in Brazil.
Whilst the dual-sportswoman continues to make good progress in her recovery from the broken collarbone she suffered in a fall from her horse Fox during a three-day event in July, she is still at least a month away from a return to the cockpit. With Halliday unable to participate in the Brazilian race, she has once again accepted Motors TV’s invitation to join the commentary team for their live and exclusive coverage of the race.
“I’m back riding again but the doctors have informed me that I’m still some way off returning to a race car,” Liz explained. “I’ve had the operation to remove the metal nail that the surgeon inserted to help the bone heal properly, and that has allowed me to resume my physical training and also do some riding.
“I’m taking things slowly at the moment, although I do have a couple of low-key Dressage and Show Jumping events planned before the end of the year and then I should be ready to get back behind the wheel of a race car with some testing after Christmas.”
In the meantime Liz once again teams up with Mark Cole, David Leslie and John Hindhaugh to provide fans with expert analysis of the 11-hour Mil Milhas enduro, as Peugeot and Pescarolo Sport do battle for the overall LMP1 Le Mans Series title.
“It will be my longest ever stint in the commentary box and I’m looking forward to it,” said Liz, who was the only female driver at this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours. “Having worked for Motors TV during the LMS races at Spa and Silverstone, it was fantastic to be invited back. While there’s a reduced grid for the Mil Milhas, there should be plenty of action right throughout the field and with the LMP1 title up for grabs it’s set to be a very interesting race.”

December 2 2008
I started this site in 2004 with about 100 pages related to the Formula 1 drivers of the 2004 season. Now, more than four years later it has grown a bit. How big is it, you ask? Total number of pages: 210744 (at Dec 01) Size of text in database: 47.5 MB While 47.5 MB might not sound like much...
