Halliday called up by Creation for Nurburgring 1000kms
After announcing a deal to race with Creation AIM at the final two rounds of the American Le Mans Series earlier in the week, Liz Halliday will get a much earlier opportunity to race the team’s CA07 chassis than originally expected, having been called up to contest this weekend’s Nurburgring 1000kms.
The California-born, British-based dual sportswoman has been drafted in by the team to race at the fourth round of the Le Mans Series, replacing one of their regular drivers, Felipe Ortiz, who is unavailable due to a prior commitment.
Halliday will partner South African Stephen Simpson in the team’s #14 car, giving the pair an early opportunity to drive together ahead of the Petit Le Mans and Laguna Seca races later in the year.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for me to get some time in the car under racing conditions,” said Liz. “The news that I would be driving at the Nurburgring has come quite late, but the chance to work with Stephen and the team, and the experience we’ll gain from that, will be very welcome.
“The Nurburgring is a new circuit for me. I’ve been there before as a spectator, but never to drive, so that’s exciting as well. In fact, it’s going to be a weekend of firsts; my first race with Creation, first in an LMP1 car and first at the Nurburgring, so obviously I can’t wait!”
Creation Team Principal Mike Jankowski welcomed Liz on board by saying: “When we found out Felipe was unavailable for this race, we thought of Liz straight away. It’s a welcome opportunity to work with her before our programme together in the US and we’re confident that she will do a good job this weekend.”

December 2 2008
I started this site in 2004 with about 100 pages related to the Formula 1 drivers of the 2004 season. Now, more than four years later it has grown a bit. How big is it, you ask? Total number of pages: 210744 (at Dec 01) Size of text in database: 47.5 MB While 47.5 MB might not sound like much...
