Fault-free Snetterton test run for Hillspeed trio

Formula Renault BARC front-runners Hillspeed enjoyed a faultless day of testing at Norfolk’s Snetterton Circuit today, Tuesday, 1st July, with Australian youngster Immanuel Bryson Haynes joining team regulars Menasheh Idafar and Michael Lyons.

British-born Bahraini Idafar, who is second in the championship standings, concluded the day’s four sessions as the fastest driver of a Formula Renault BARC specification car with a time of 1m 08.6 seconds, around half a second faster than his closest rival.

Team-mate Michael Lyons, who has most recently been making headlines at the wheel of historic Formula One cars, continued to acclimatise back to contemporary single-seater machinery and managed a best lap time in the mid 1m 09 second bracket.

For Bryson Haynes, the visit to Snetterton marked his first experience of the 1.95-mile track and only his second ever outing at the wheel of a Formula Renault car. Producing very respectable times, the Anitpodean rookie has hooked-up with Hathersage based Hillspeed as he considers his options in single-seaters for 2009.

Speaking on the day’s action, team principal Richard Ollerenshaw said: “I’m very happy with how things have gone. Menasheh did another fantastic job and is producing the terrific form he’s shown all season while Mick continued to re-adjust to the Formula Renault BARC car and did a very good job.

“Immanuel had a lot to learn today, especially with just four, 30-minute sessions, but produced a good performance. It’s only the second time he’s driven a Formula Renault and considering he’d never been to the circuit before, he had a good run.”

Hillspeed will return to action at Snetterton tomorrow, Tuesday, 2nd July, where the team will take part in the opening day of an officially timed Formula Renault UK test session.

“There’s a good chance of rain tomorrow and if we do have wet weather we’re quite happy about that as it’ll be a good opportunity to try some settings”, added Ollerenshaw, “If it stays dry though, as it was today, we’ll continue our preparations for the Snetterton race meeting in early August. Whatever the weather does, we’re looking forward to it.”

A test server
September 15 2008
I've set up a test server for Driver Database now. It's my old computer which had a dying Windows XP install on it that got formatted and installed with Linux. It was about ten years ago I last used Linux so it did take me a while to get Apache, PHP, MySQL and FTP set up properly and importing the d...
