Christian Montanari gets ready for the Bucharets Ring race

After the summer break, the Fia Gt World Championships starts again on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th August from Romania, on the Bucharest Ring city track and its amazing backdrop of the Romanian Parliamentary building. Its the sixth race of the season and it has a peculiar characteristic: for the first time in Fia GT history the race will be run over a one-hour format, with a qualifying race on the Saturday evening, at 6.15 pm, and the Championship race on the Sunday, at 2.15 pm.

Christian Montanari and Thomas Biagi, on the F430 Ferrari GT2 n° 51, of the AF Team, come to Romania willing to recover the top of the ranking. After the accident at the Total 24 Hours of Spa, that made them slipping back of three places, now the pair Montanari – Biagi wants really to get even.

Christian Montanari and Thomas Biagi will be forced to carry about 44 pound (20 kg) ballast and about 77 pounds (35 kg) more as penalty weight. The weather is likely to be sunny for the three days of the event, with high temperature. The tests will be held on Friday, starting from 3:00 pm. The challenge will be live broadcast on channel Sky Sport Extra on Saturday from 5.15 pm and on Sunday from 1.15 pm.

Christian Montanari:
“This is a very peculiar race, on a city circuit around the Romanian Parliamentary building and divided into two one – hour rounds: the first one on Saturday night, the second one on Sunday morning. The weather will surely be very important: when it rains the race on a city circuit gets more difficult. On the Bucharets Ring it is even more difficult, cause the pavement is very oily and slippery. We are very charged up, we come back to a circuit after three weeks and after the bad experience of the Total 24 Hours of Spa. The most important thing now is to get back the places of the ranking we lost in Belgium. I think we can do it, I like city circuits a lot. We know Bucharest Ring very well, cause we drove there last year and we got great results. But most of all, we have are charged up cause we want to go back to the top of the ranking.”

Driver Database is huge
December 2 2008
I started this site in 2004 with about 100 pages related to the Formula 1 drivers of the 2004 season. Now, more than four years later it has grown a bit. How big is it, you ask? Total number of pages: 210744 (at Dec 01) Size of text in database: 47.5 MB While 47.5 MB might not sound like much...
