Carlin looking forward to home race
Carlin’s British F3 squad head to Thruxton this weekend, for the team’s home race of the 2008 British F3 International Series. Red Bull driver Jaime Alguersuari goes to Thruxton as the current championship leader, following four consecutive podium finishes in a season that has so far rewarded consistency.
Australia’s Sam Abay was quickest overall at the official Thruxton test last month, as wet weather yet again hampered the progress of the F3 teams. Despite the poor conditions, the Carlin team enjoyed a strong outing, with five cars in the top ten by the end of the day.
The youngest member of Carlin’s F3 squad, Jaime Alguersuari has visited the podium five times this season and snatched the championship lead at the last round at Snetterton. Having only completed one wet test at Thruxton, Alguersuari is yet to experience the track’s long straights in the dry, but based on his performance so far this season it shouldn’t be an issue for the F3 rookie.
Like his Red Bull team mate, Brendon Hartley has only completed one wet test at the Thruxton track. The young Kiwi will be pushing hard to make up for the disappointment of losing a race win at Snetterton and will be aiming to get his championship back on track with some more podium positions.
Racing Steps Foundation driver Oliver Turvey is looking good for a strong result this weekend, having taken two top five finishes last time out at Snetterton. Having completed his exams at Cambridge University and a week of intensive training in Italy, the 21 year-old student heads to Thruxton with renewed vigour.
National Class leader Andy Meyrick will be aiming to regain the momentum that has seen him win six races so far this season, after a disappointing weekend at Snetterton. Heading to Thruxton as a newly appointed member of the Rising Stars scheme, Meyrick is aiming for the top step of the podium again. Meanwhile, team mate Kristjan Einar was forced to sit out an unofficial test at Snetterton last week due to a prolonged back problem, but should be back in the car ready for rounds 11 and 12 at Thruxton.
Team Principal Trevor Carlin added, “Thruxton is a special circuit to the team, it’s one of the fastest on the calendar and of course, it’s our home race. We’ve enjoyed much success there in the past and hope to continue that with the strong team we have this year. Neither Jaime nor Brendon has raced at Thruxton before, but I think they’ve shown great ability to learn new tracks quickly this year and I expect the team to be competitive from the outset.”
With no practice sessions on Friday, the team will be on track for qualifying at 11.30 and 15.05 on Saturday with two races at 11.45 and 15.40 on Sunday.

September 15 2008
I've set up a test server for Driver Database now. It's my old computer which had a dying Windows XP install on it that got formatted and installed with Linux. It was about ten years ago I last used Linux so it did take me a while to get Apache, PHP, MySQL and FTP set up properly and importing the d...
