Antonio Felix da Costa shines in Oschersleben
António Félix da Costa was in Oschersleben, Germany, this weekend, to participate in the 4th round of the Formula Renault NEC (Northern European Cup).
Feeling ever more at ease in his Formula Renault car, António was back at the track where only eight months ago he tested a single seater for the first time. He confirmed his impressive progression and maturity in the double qualifying session, securing his first pole position for the first race of the weekend! Having only completed two laps in the second session, the Portuguese rookie driver still posted the 4th fastest time for the second race.
Starting on pole position on Saturday, António Félix da Costa drove a faultless race, making sure he controlled the pace of his most direct opponents, and finishing with a 5 second advantage over the 2nd placed driver. The Cascais born driver was on a class of his own and besides claiming his first ever victory also posted the fastest lap of the race!
António started 4th for the weekend’s second race and came fighting through in the first two laps, moving up to 2nd place and putting the leader under pressure. Driving so close to the leading driver affected the balance of his own car and António, thinking of the overall standings, opted not to take unnecessary risks and guarantee an important podium finish.
“It was a very positive weekend overall, and I’m very happy for my first win in this championship. I am now 2nd in the standings and increased the gap to the 3rd placed driver so things are looking very good for the next race. My team, Motopark Academy, did an excellent job once again, working really hard so that I could get my first victory in this competitive championship”, concluded the Portuguese driver.
The next event of the Formula Renault NEC takes place at the Dutch track of Assen, on August 2nd and 3rd.

I started this site in 2004 with about 100 pages related to the Formula 1 drivers of the 2004 season. Now, more than four years later it has grown a bit. How big is it, you ask? Total number of pages: 210744 (at Dec 01) Size of text in database: 47.5 MB While 47.5 MB might not sound like much...
