António Félix da Costa shines in home race

António Félix da Costa was in Estoril this weekend, competing in the 6th double round of the Formula Renault Eurocup.

Racing at his home track for the first time, António was at his best and presented the large crowds in attendance with two outstanding races.

In the first race, held on Saturday, the young Portuguese driver started from 10th place and showed his fighting spirit from the beginning, making up several positions up to 5th place in a series of overtaking moves that brought the spectators to their feet.

In the second race, held on Sunday, António was unstoppable once again. Starting from 7th place on the grid, the driver from Cascais had an excellent start and opening laps, moving quickly up to 4th position. From here on António Félix da Costa put on another superb display of driving, keeping the 3rd placed driver under constant pressure. However, at a time where a podium finish looked increasingly likely for the Portuguese driver, the Safety Car came in on the final lap and prevented him to make his final assault.

At the end, in declarations to his website www.felixdacosta.com, António commented: “It was fantastic to race at home for the first time in my still short career. With 44 drivers taking part, and me being one of the few that hadn’t raced here before, I think that the two results I got here were very positive, and beyond the best expectations. Furthermore, by taking away some points from his direct adversaries, I contributed to my team mate Valtteri Bottas leaving Estoril in the championship lead. I feel that we put on a great show for my sponsors and also the Portuguese fans, to whom I would like to thank for all the encouragement and support they gave me throughout the weekend.

Next weekend I will participate in the final round of the NEC (Northern European Cup) in Spa, where I will fight for the 2nd place in the championship as well as best rookie.”

Driver Database is huge
December 2 2008
I started this site in 2004 with about 100 pages related to the Formula 1 drivers of the 2004 season. Now, more than four years later it has grown a bit. How big is it, you ask? Total number of pages: 210744 (at Dec 01) Size of text in database: 47.5 MB While 47.5 MB might not sound like much...
