An unlucky qualifying race for Prema

Unlucky day for Prema Powerteam on the city circuit of Macao in the Formula 3 FIA Intercontinental Cup. The qualifying session, held today, started in the worse possible way for Roberto Streit who stalled his engine at the start. The Brazilian driver, who started from seventh position after Sebastian Buemi's penalty, managed to restart his engine although he dropped to the twentieth position. At the beginning of the Race, Streit soon reached the thirteenth position, after two incidents, just behind his team mate Renger Van der Zande, author of a good start. After the Safety Car, the Race continued but at the Mandarin corner Van der Zande hit the barrier which put an end to his race. Streit on the other hand continued his race by gaining positions and finally concluded in eighth position. The Race was terminated at the seventh of the ten scheduled laps because of an incident that provoked a red flag regime. In view of the se results, Streit will start tomorrow's race in eighth position while Van der Zande will start from the twelfth row.

Angelo Rosin, Team Manager
"This was not a very lucky day. Streit started the race by regaining positions after his mistake at the beginning and even damaged his front wing due to a contact with another car. Nevertheless, in the end he obtained the eighth position which doesn't reflect our real potential but at the same time leaves some hope for tomorrow's final. Unfortunately Van der Zande paid for his inexperience on a very demanding track. For him tomorrow will be a difficult day, but he has all that is needed to regain positions."

Roberto Streit
"I made my life complicated at the start, and after that my front wing was also damaged due to a contact with another car. What a disappointment, because without these inconveniences I would have finished the race in the front positions. However considering everything, the eighth position st ill allows me to reach the podium. At Macao, the races are long and full of unpredictable events, therefore for the final I will start with the objective of doing the utmost possible, hoping that the events will this time be more favourable for me."

Renger Van der Zande
"I had a very good start, maybe even the best start of my carrier, and from twenty-first I was twelfth. At that point I was hoping to end the race in the top ten, but after the re-start I slightly widened the line at the Mandarin corner and touched the barrier. That was enough to damage my car. It's disappointing as the conditions were ideal in order to have a good starting position for tomorrow's race. Now, I have to think about regaining a few positions."

Driver Database is huge
December 2 2008
I started this site in 2004 with about 100 pages related to the Formula 1 drivers of the 2004 season. Now, more than four years later it has grown a bit. How big is it, you ask? Total number of pages: 210744 (at Dec 01) Size of text in database: 47.5 MB While 47.5 MB might not sound like much...
