15-year-old Oscar Palm tests Carrera Cup car

Racing talent Oscar Palm, 15 years old from Jönköping Sweden, is historic when he as the first Swede ever granted exemption of the Swedish National Autosport Authority (SBF) to test a Porsche 911 GT3 RS Cup - the same type of car that during the season has been competing in the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia. Thanks to a collaboration with one of Sweden's top racing drivers Alx Danielsson Palm can now look fordward to driving one of the world's most potent cars - and he doesn't have to wait long. Already on Thursday the 6th of December the teenager will be doing his first test together with Danielsson Motorsport at Mantorp Park.

- This is an opportunity I want to make the best of, Palm says. To drive a Porsche Cup car has been a dream for a long time, and I wish to thank both Alx and SBF for making it come true. Danielsson Motorsport is probably the country's best Carrera Cup team, like the results have shown many times during this season, and I'm produ and excited to work with them during the test at Mantorp Park.

Oscar has during 2007 competed successfully in karts, but is now ready for the next step in his career. Entries in different Porsche championships is an option for the coming season, but after a sensational Formula Renault test in Shanghai a couple of weeks ago the opportunities are many. The exemption by SBF is in present form only a one-off for the test drive, but the support from Danielsson Motorsport - where Oscar now is testing for the Young Gun Programme - could mean that a racing licence becomes a reality.

- By a continuing dialog with Alx, who's been showing great enthusiasm regarding my development as a driver, I've now got the chance to show what I'm capable of, Palm concludes. I'm going to do my absolute best to repay everything he and the team has done for me by doing an as professional job as possible - and I want to show myself and SBF that their decision was correct.

Driver Database is huge
December 2 2008
I started this site in 2004 with about 100 pages related to the Formula 1 drivers of the 2004 season. Now, more than four years later it has grown a bit. How big is it, you ask? Total number of pages: 210744 (at Dec 01) Size of text in database: 47.5 MB While 47.5 MB might not sound like much...
