Ashley Walsh news
Brakes halt Walsh's progress
Formula Renault 2.0 WEC.
Weekend-long brake problems saw Ash Walsh finish with a best result of 15th in the penultimate round of the West European Cup for Formula Renault cars at Magny Cours, France, last weekend. Walsh, competing with the assistance of the Australian Motor Sport Foundation through its AMSF International Rising Star program, struggled with braking issues the entire weekend. It was a problem that his Hi-Tech Junior team had with all of its team's cars, and it cost Walsh dearly. Walsh did, however, make up positions relative to his qualifying form. Formula Renault 2.0 WEC.
Ash Walsh has endured a difficult weekend in his maiden race meeting at the famous Spa Francorchamps circuit in Belgium. Walsh, from Ipswich in Queensland and driving with the support of the Australian Motorsport Foundation, finished 17th and 18th in the two West European Cup races, held in typically variable and soaking wet Spa conditions. The weekend also saw Walsh have his first "big" crash in European motorsport, when he lost control of his Formula Renault car in top gear in wet conditions. He emerged from the crash with no prob... » Read moreNew car helps Walsh secure more Top 10 results
Formula Renault 2.0 WEC.
Ash Walsh has taken another top 10 finish in the latest round of the West European Cup at Estoril, Portugal, today. Walsh, an AMSF International Rising Star, finished seventh in the second race after crossing the line 15th in Race 1. The result comes on the back of his maiden top 10 finish at Le Mans two weeks ago. Walsh was also driving a new car too, taking over the Formula Renualt 2.0 car of Hitech Junior team-mate Miki Monrás, who left the team prior to the start of the weekend. Walsh says that the chassis change played an ins... » Read moreWalsh finishes seventh at Le Mans circuit
Formula Renault 2.0 WEC.
Ash Walsh has secured his best finishing result of the year with seventh place at the famous Le Mans circuit in France last weekend. Walsh, 20, qualified down in 21st place in the fourth round of the Western European Championship (for Formula Renault cars), but on a wet and drying circuit, he stormed through the pack to take his first top 10 result of the season. The breakthrough result couldn't have come at a better time for the AMSF International Rising Star. After a difficult start to his overseas career, plus a long mid-season break ... » Read moreWalsh continues Euro learning curve
Formula Renault 2.0 WEC.
Ashley Walsh has continued his learning curve in the West European Championship for Formula Renault at Valencia, Spain, this weekend. Walsh, from Ipswich, Queensland, Australia, showed encouraging pace in the early stages of the second race, picking up numerous spots until delayed by an incident that included a car rolling over. The AMSF International Rising Star finished both races in 20th position, but was penalised in Race 2 and demoted further down the field. After rueing lowly qualifying positions, Walsh remained optimistic about ... » Read more
