This weekend Johan Jokinen competed in the 7th and 8th rounds of the Northern European Cup in Formula Renault 2.0 in Oschersleben, Germany. The Friday started well with the second best time in the morning’s free practice on a wet track, but the track had dried up for the afternoon’s practice and both driving and set-up had to be adjusted to the new conditions. Northern European Cup in Formula Renault 2.0 continued last weekend in Alastaro in Finland. In changing weather on the 2,721 km long, but technically challenging track, Jokinen was second fastest in the free practice and took P2 in the first qualification and P4 in the second. In the Saturday race Jokinen started from second position and the entire field waited unusually long for the red light to turn off. With two 4th positions in last weekend’s two races at Zandvoort in Holland Jokinen continued with good results in the strong field of 26 drivers. “I went to Zandvoort with the goal of getting two podiums, but I’m quite satisfied with my two 4th places considering the circumstances. Due to red flag during the first qualification I only had one full lap, and even had to overtake in that lap, and in the second qualification I never got the tyres properly warmed up because of traffic. Johan Jokinen made it to the podium in the second race of the NEC Formula Renault 2.0 at Hockenheim last Sunday, and is now 3rd overall. Johan was set for a flying start at the season’s first race in the series after the fastest lap in the free practice, and had qualified for P4 for the Saturday’s race and P2 for the second race on Sunday. 17-year-old Dane Johan Jokinen continues to impress in FR 2.0 NEC tests, latest in the official test at Hockenheim on March 27th and 28th.
