Carlo van Dam seemed to be heading for a sensational result in today’s Macau Formula 3 Grand Prix, but his impressive drive through the field ended prematurely when another car crashed right in front of the Dutchman’s. Toyota Team TOM’s-coureur Carlo van Dam has wrapped up the Japanese Formula 3 Championship in perfect style. Today, at a rain soaked Sugo circuit, he won the last race of the year from pole position, scoring his ninth win of the season as well as his eighteenth podium finish in as many races. Carlo van Dam has today won the seventeenth round of the 2008 Japanese Formula 3 Championship at Sugo, a track he races on for the first time this weekend. Carlo, who has already clinched the Japanese Formula 3 title, scored his eighth win of the year in style: he started from pole position in his Toyota Team TOM’s Dallara, led from start to finish and set the fastest lap of the race. Newly crowned Japanese Formula 3 champion Carlo van Dam today set a new record by finishing second at Fuji in the sixteenth round of the season.
