First test for next season

Thursday, December 4 2008

After I did only one event in the Spanish Nacionals (2º and 4º in finals ) with Premier Motorsport (Energy) I was very satisfied with the handling of the chassis, and we will have the first test this weekend since then. Plans are to do the full Spanish Nacionals KF3, and the European KF3 with the European finals in "Zuera" on the 11th and 12th of July. I really look forward to this Championship, which I sadly missed, but Qualified for the finals in Varennes. Also I will be acompanied by GFR Engines,(Gordy) from England in these Championships.

I still look for sponsors, wich I won’t let down for next season. (this is a promise) contact: markmeg@hotmail.com

Coming to the end of the season

Sunday, October 26 2008

We come to the end of my first season in KF3, with still a lot to do, but promising for next year. 10 races with 7 podiums, with a 3rd in the Open Masters in Val Vibrata and a 2nd in the Spanish Nacionals at Campillos as the highlights, and of course not to forget, the qualifier for the European Championship in Varennes, where I couldn’t come.

Things weren’t that easy at the end of the season, due to the economic situations, but there was always a 110% effort, to get the best out of it. For next year we have on the program the WSK series, but this depends of course also on the sponsorships. Any help or ideas are very welcome, and well treated.

We will be at the Copa de Campeones in Vendrell (Taragona) at the beginning of December, and will have there my last race of the season. See you there.

Hey... I’m also at Facebook.

Spanish Nacionals KF3

Tuesday, September 30 2008

This time I was invited by my former team PM to drive in the third event of the Spanish Nacionals at the Campillos circuit. I had a reasonable qualifyer in the heats, and started at 13th spot in the final. All drivers were on slicks, and at the 4th lap the first drops of rain fell on the track.
I had a good start, and past the first lap in 9th place. The leaderpack with, Barrabeig, Sainz, Da Luz, and Abrue, had a constant battle for the lead, wich gived me the posibility to come closer to this pack. At 4 laps left I had contact, and took second place, after great battles ,behind Sainz. Manolo Bejerano came 3th.

On the second final I finised 4th, behind winnwer Barrabeig, Michel Halle, and Fransico Abreu. All results at http://www.pde-racing.com

Final KF3 in Varennes

Friday, September 5 2008

This is the worst day of my karting career. My dream to drive a European Final was transformed in a broken dream. As a stomage diseas striked me with weakness and no apetite. Doctors prescripcion? .. Medicine, and rest.

Today I followed the training sessions of KF3 live at www.cikfia.com, and there were some suprises, with 54 drivers in the KF3 class within 6 tenths of a second!! That promise ESPECTACULO!!

Can’t wait to follow the heats tomorrow, altough with a bitter feeling, as I could be there too. Hope I will have another chance next year.

Testing in Varennes

Wednesday, August 20 2008

It’s some weeks ago I did my last news update, this due to the summer holidays, and no "race events" between mid-July and end of August here in sunny and very hot southern Spain.

But I didn’t sit down, and I enjoyed my physical training instead. Meanwhile my father was occupied with the financial part, for the test weekend and the final European race in France. Which gets more and more difficult, as "Crisis" gets also into karting.

Hope things will work out, and we can go to this important test weekend, Otherwise I have to watch this weekend European GP F1 in Valencia instead on television, and I dont really feel like that!!

Will keep you informed.

Megens qualifies for the European Kart Championship

Wednesday, July 16 2008

In the qualifing practice I did 11th fastest time, out of 56 drivers. Then I had to do the four heats where I got 6th in the first heat, after a very disputing start. In the second heat things went wrong, as in parque Ferme, the doors closed in front of me, after changing wet tires for slicks, and arrived 3 seconds to late to start for the second heat. But I picked up again and finnished 13th the third heat, and 5th in the fourth. Just good enough for a 30th spot in the 1st final.

I got a good start in the first final, and got 19th spot after the first lap and got even to a 14th spot, but at the end I had to do with a 19th place finish.

The second final I started from 19th spot, and I knew that I only had to save my place to go for the finals in France, and not risk too much. But I started the race with confidence and soon I was battleing with the top 15. But finaly I finnished 14th, wich is a great result for me, as I’m the youngest KF3 driver
in this Championship.

I’m very happy that I got the ticket for the final, and be with the best drivers in Europe.

Open Masters 2008

Wednesday, July 2 2008

Val Vibrata was the place of the 4th event in the 2008 Open Masters, where in KF3 everything has been difficult since the 2nd heat. A storm with heavy rains passed over the circuit in the middle of the second heat. It was a fight in rain wich suprised many drivers. I finished third in the first heat, but I was like many others one of the victims in the second heat as I passed the finish line in 21st and in a better third heat 10th.

In the pre-final I had to start from spot eleven on grid. I made a good start, and passed the first lap on 8th place, but a driver drove in the back of me, who got later penalised. It didn’t help me a lot as I finished 21st.

In the final I had a great come back and battled true the field, thanks to the team who made the the right disicions and had the right setup, to drive in these still wet conditions. I finished 3th behind Kevin Ceccon and winner Raffaele Marciello.
